Good Sunday to you, Threaders, Threadheads, and all in between. Coffee is still good!
Yesterday was a great day. I intended to come back and write how great exactly, after I posted a short morning post about the hostage rescue that took place at Nuseirat, but then I started reading about it on SM and decided to hold it. My mood was turning from joyful to angry and nothing good would come from it. Cool off time required. And here I am.
The rescued hostages are Noa Aragmani, 25; Almog Meir Jan, 21; Andrey Kozlov, 27; and Shlomi Ziv, 40. (NBC News) I was particularly pleased about Noa, since to me she has become the face of October 7 in those infamous images taken during her abduction at the Nova music festival. Many shared my feeling of relief and expressed it but I knew her happiness, captured on video during the stages of her rescue, would soon be used as “proof” that the hostages are being cared for by Hamas.
There’s so much shit being said by the pro Hamas goons that it would be a waste of time to address it all here. Not happening. What I want to point out is their complete meltdown over the rescue itself. How dare the IDF rescue them? And, get this, why didn’t they warn the civilians in Nuseirat the rescue raid was going to happen? And why is no one outraged they disguised themselves to get close to the place where the hostages were being held? Stuff like that.
Of course, their outrage is mostly about the number of casualties on the Palestinian side, and how they were targeted in a “refugee camp”. The list of absurdities goes on. The truth eludes them, as usual, never mind that since the IDF went into the Gaza Strip everyone knew innocent civilians were expected to die; that’s what happens when terrorists embed themselves with a mostly sympathetic population, and let’s not forget most of them still support Hamas.
Never mind also some of the hostages were being kept in the home of a “well off” Palestinian family, one of them a The Palestine Chronicle employee, aka “journalist”. Talk about inside news. All these facts don’t register with the pro Hamas ghouls. They’re out there again, all around the White House, chanting “Hezbollah, Hezbollah, kill another Zionist.” Yeah. Apparently, Hamas is no longer cool. Their great terrorist hope is now Hezbollah. At least until the IDF really starts to engage them.
The rescue brings back the hope of finding some of the remaining 116 hostages alive. Although some see it as a problem in regards to the ongoing negotiations with Hamas, it may actually help, in the sense that now they know the longer they take to accept a deal, the more hostages will be rescued and the less leverage they will have, but all in all it’s not affecting much in that matter. Unfortunately there are still many hostages left.
The backdrop to all this is the Pride Month manifestations, inevitably dragged into the mix by the usual suspects. What is it they chose as their motto this year? Ah, yes: “No Pride in Genocide”. Way to go LGBTQ+ people! Nothing says accept us like “We’re here to have fun and kill Jews and we’re not having fun anymore.” How many watermelon LGBTQ+ dumbfucks have I blocked since yesterday? I lost count. One thing is for sure: Gay pride is no longer a thing.
Between the ones who recognize supporting people with zero tolerance for sexual and gender diversity is stupid and those who condemn the use of gay or lesbian as reductive, not to mention the snowflakes who get upset by Slim Shady, the LGBTQ+ movement is about to implode. And I apologize for the use of the plus sign, but I am no longer sure which initials follow Q anymore, and I am trying not to offend anyone more than they already are. Yup, it’s that dumb.
As always, concerned as I am about the situation in the Middle East, my main focus is still the home front and how we are handling the run up to the next elections. In close proximity to the events we witnessed yesterday and the inevitable fall out and meltdown from the pro Hamashicks, Biden is again to blame for all this and I am not reassured by the way this administration is handling things.
Focusing on the orange turd as opposed to clearly state real objectives for 2025 and beyond, trying to outgun him in immigration policies, you name it. Just when you think some clarity is showing in respect to Israel, the waters get muddied again. It’s like they don’t understand these people they so hard try to appease have always been lost to them. The only way to make them realize how wrong they are is to show them results that benefit them. Even then, don’t hold your breath.
I am really happy about the rescue, really glad four families got their loved ones back, and absolutely hopeful Noa will dance again. Yet the surrounding clouds are still dark and menacing. I remain convinced come November we will prevail, for there are many reasons to vote Democrat that transcend the also many crisis dividing our ranks, but it’s what comes after that concerns me the most. We need to demand clarity of purpose from the ones we are ready to choose as our representatives.
I had enough of this dodge ball bullshit and this basic “vote against the other guy” objective. That’s not the goal here. Defeating the orange turd is but a small step towards what we want for our future. Exactly like releasing all the hostages is, I kid you not. Both are great accomplishments, but in themselves they are only steps towards the real objectives. We must be aware of this in order to succeed. Going back to October 6 is not enough. Going back to 2015 is not enough.
We all need reassurance that those positioned to deliver much needed results see this too. Unfortunately, whether in Israel or here in the US, I see little of it, but let not this reality set you back. On the contrary, let it strengthen your resolve and make it clear to you what remains to be done. Those looking for magic bullets and easy fixes are found on the wrong side of History. Please make sure you’re on its right side. The hardest one. The one worth fighting for.
Take comfort in the few good news we get, for they give us renewed hope. I know a lot of people that could still be alive lost their lives in Nuseirat, but that sad reality does not take anything from Noa’s beautiful smile. That smile makes me believe a future where innocents will die no more is closer, even if I know how hard that is. I don’t seek perfection, I seek balance. Today I am more hopeful we can find it, regardless of all the crap in SM would make us believe.
I don’t expect everyone of those against us to one day understand why we fight and what we fight for, but I hope some of them will one day wake up to reality. That depends on how much we can make reality visible and how much we can do to improve it. Now I am just happy for the rescued hostages and their families. Let’s bring the others home too. No matter what. And let’s also stay the course right here, where we have the chance to make life better for everyone.
Have a good Sunday.
IMPORTANT UPDATE:
I thought the Palestinian “journalist” mentioned, in whose house some of the hostages were kept, was employed by Al Jazeera but he was really with The Palestine Chronicle. Perhaps not as egregious but still absurd, this should remind us to confirm every bit of information before using it.
I made the correction here and will call it out on Threads, where unfortunately the original string can’t be edited.
