The day after.

Happy Tuesday, Threaders, Threadheads, and all in between. Coffee is still going strong.

Let’s get serious. We look around and feel encouraged, excited even. It’s beginning to look a lot like victory. We are unstoppable. I believe in it; I see it. It’s happening. We’re not going back! But what are we excited about? What is unstoppable? I don’t know about you, but to me it’s about the election itself. That is our goal. But let’s get real.

Once again, I believe women are the key to this victory we can almost taste. Along with millions of men who support them they will deliver the blue wave we need. The reason we must turn that wave into a tsunami is that this victory will not be unchallenged. The size of the wave will determine how dangerous that challenge may be. In 2020 those challenges got serious, despite the stupidity of their baseless lawsuits and allegations.

Between zombie illegal voters and Jewish space lasers we laughed, but those insane ideas led us to January 6. And that was NOT funny. At all. Yeah, we all laughed at Rudy’s literal meltdown and the Kraken lady. But on January 6 we stopped laughing. It wasn’t just weird anymore. It was pretty fucking dead serious. I think most Americans don’t realize how close we came to ending democracy that day.

I know we are excited and reinvigorated by the breeze of fresh air and joviality Harris brought to the campaign. It will undoubtedly turn into the whirlwind I mentioned before and it will bring us electoral victory. I am not raining on that parade. It’s happening. But this is just one more battle in the long fight ahead of us, and we must prepare ourselves for the day after. Now.

Election denial is no longer “unprecedented”. We know what it is. We witnessed it on J6 and after that in states, like Arizona. Like Michigan. Remember Michigan? The plot to kidnap and execute Gretchen Whitmer? Sure, laugh all you want at Kari Lake and Arizona, but one good look at Whitmer and Michigan will snap you out of it in a flash. This is not a joke. It’s dead serious. Though we may not be completely numb to election denialism we are accustomed to it.

Unfortunately it became a part of the election cycles, federal and local. 2024 is no different, and from the get go, in our endless campaign calendar, the orange turd started tossing it around. No surprise there. But look at what’s happening now. It’s no longer the lingering theme of his campaign. It’s becoming THE theme. They see the writing on the wall. They know the women who voted for him in the past will now quietly vote for another woman. They smell defeat.

So they bring the denial of that defeat to the forefront of their campaign. They have been doing so in the shadows since 2021. Their key players are in position and ready. Their “poll workers” are attending “election integrity”workshops. Now, as they face inevitable defeat, they rally their faithful and just like in 2020 it may seem ridiculous and laughable at this stage. Make no mistake. It’s anything but.

While the apparent contest was between the turd and Biden, their campaign seemed disgusting and old fashioned, confident they were in their strategy. That’s gone. From a somewhat familiar campaign and the nastiness associated with American politics, where opposition research matters more than ideals, we moved into a full fledged fascist denialism based campaign. This is why the day after is when the next battle will start, without respite.

I want you to imagine our powerful ranks right after vanquishing our enemies on the field. It was not easy but we did it. The day is ours. There is joy and tears, and exhaustion. It was a long battle we thought was lost at one point, but by God we did it. Our armors are dented and our muscles sore and we feel relieved. We’re right there, center field. A victorious army, exhausted. Now I want you to look at our flanks. There they are. It’s not over yet.

They will not allow us to rest, perhaps even to celebrate our victory. They will hit our flanks very hard and we must be ready for it. They will try to divide us again, trusting the only measures that can defeat them are too extreme and unpopular and, above all, hard to justify because they will look like the measures we condemned before, we fought against in 2020. And there’s also, in the back of their mind, the possibility this will be a 2000 repeat.

Kamala Harris is our current Vice President. This is not assumption. She WILL stand before the Congress, just like Al Gore did, and will declare who the winner of the 2024 presidential election is. In a normal election, no matter how weird, that would be the expression of our democracy’s strength. In 2025, when that day comes, it may be our democracy’s last stand. And this time, it may need executive power back up. It’s that fucking serious.

Are we ready for that possibility? Will we understand the difference between 2024 and 2020? The nuance between 2024 and 2000? After the long and hard battle we are fighting right now will we have the strength to win an even harder one right after? This is what keeps me up at night. The day after.

We’re no longer the Blue Wall that barely kept fascism at bay. We’re the Blue Wave that is breaking their ranks and sowing confusion among them, ensuring our victory. If that wave is not strong enough to clear the field AND remove initiative from the forces stacked up against us in our fkanks we will have to stop a vicious clash. Because no matter the size of the wave, they’ll be coming for us the day after. It’s ensuring that wave is a Blue Tsunami that will remove their initiative.

An undeniable victory will not prevent our flanks to be hit hard right after but it will take the wind out of their sails and give us the upper hand in that fight. If we win by a handful of votes in the electoral college the Supreme Court may well flirt with the idea of tipping the scale, like it did in 2000. And in that case, our Vice President will need to decide what to do when she is required to pronounce the election results determined not by millions of voters but by nine people.

This is what we may face, come January 2025. This is what we need to be ready for. I know it’s a lot. I know we’re fighting for our lives already and how hard it is. Sometimes, even with this renewed enthusiasm and energy, I feel overwhelmed and tired and enraged. I know, trust me. But I also know what comes next. What I don’t know yet is how that will play out. We know they are waiting on our flanks. We know what their move will be. That is our great advantage.

Keep doing what you’re doing. Spread awareness of this. Give people strength and courage. No matter what, fascism will not prevail. We must be ready for the day after. I trust we will. Victory will be ours. Let’s make sure we keep it that way and be prepared to not only defend our flanks but to crush their offensive. Decisively. No matter what.

Stay strong. We got this.
We’re not going back!

Bring it on.

Good morning, Threaders, Threadheads, and all in between. Coffee is good this morning.

Yesterday I was asked by a thriend to speak my mind about the Amal and George Clooney debacles. Plural. I hate giving oxygen to these privileged people who reveal themselves as the spoiled brats they are, but eventually their poo hits my fan. And I don’t like that. So let’s take a walk of fame, I mean shame.

I liked George. Probably most of us did. I don’t follow alleged “Hollywood stars” or their gossip, so I had no clue who Amal Clooney was until she threw her husband’s name around at the ICC, when her legal services helped prosecute Israeli government officials for war crimes committed in Gaza. We know how that went. Nothing helps a country to deal with an authoritarian wannabe like throwing it under the bus while they fight for survival. Why not?

Her married name brought instant attention to the role she played in the ICC decision, and as expected she (and the court) took cover under the “bothsideism” of the ruling that compared the Israeli government to Hamas. “There are very bad people on both sides!” But you never heard her or any of them say that out loud, it was just between the lines of the ruling. It really pains these people to say Hamas is really bad.

Amal Clooney’s romantic idea of the conflict is as idiotic as her idea of what war is, let alone one fought against terrorists in plane clothes hiding among a supportive population in a urban environment. But it’s kind of fashionable among these privileged pricks who live in million dollar homes away from the stench of the plebeians. After all, her husband is a lifelong lost causes advocate and democratic fundraising star. She can’t go wrong.

Pushing the pro-Hamas agenda with their “Star power” while like minded brainless kids shouted “Hey hey, Ho ho, Genocide Joe has got to go!” seemed like a good time to organize a star studded fundraiser for Biden, right George? And that’s just what he did. How bad was it when Joe called out the ICC bothsides bullshit, George? Did it hurt your wife’s feelings much? I bet it did. I bet she put you in the doghouse for that. Shit, I would.

Joe has a bad night and all the brouhaha in the Press turns on him, along with the spineless politicians with an ass to cover as priority, and George Clooney thinks he found a way out of the fucking doghouse. Join in the Joe has to go bandwagon and try make it look nice by stating how much you love him, George. After all, you have to look good to the crowd you took money from to support him. You and your wife still go to their parties, right? How awkward can that be if you’re not nice.

An opinion piece is published along those lines, providing you and mrs. Clooney great conversation topic at those parties, begging Joe to step down. The MSM goes wild! Breaking news! Bombshell! Erm… Nope. Nobody gave a shit. Not really. Not with Nancy Pelosi refusing to answer point blank if she supports Joe Biden. It seemed like a dud. Unless you called someone with a little more clout than you before you published your shit? I don’t know, maybe Barack Obama? Let’s try that.

Nobody gives a shit about you, George, but throw Obama in the mix and wink wink his “approval” of your opinion and you got it made. Now people will really pay attention to you. Well, to Obama, but who cares as long as you’re out of the doghouse for good, right? The MSM really likes that plot twist. It’s like Ocean’s 24. You can go back to your parties now. The MSM will take it from here. And they will run with it until someone puts a stop to it. I wonder who that could be?

In a way I am glad this happened, because it kind of dragged Barack Obama into the shitshow and I believe he’s going to say something about it.
I just hope he does it without reservations and doesn’t go with the “Joe knows best” crap. Joe already told the fucking world he is running and he’s not dropping out. This new twist in the plot provides the perfect opportunity for Obama to stand up for the Biden/Harris ticket, and honestly it’s about fucking time.

Like everyone else I am waiting for the solo press conference Joe Biden is giving this evening. I hope he brings a chair, sits down and doesn’t leave the room until every single reporter in it feels like a piece of shit. But even if he doesn’t and his age shows I am NOT changing my mind.
I know replacing Joe Biden is impossible, not because there aren’t better candidates, but because the better candidates all support him and there’s no time to do such a thing.

We’re all tired of all the hit jobs aimed at our man. I know I am. But know this: any other option at this point is political suicide. I will stand with Biden after no matter how many bad nights he has because any of those nights is better than the ones Project 2025 has planned for us. If we get this wrong we will fall into the longest, darkest night in our lifetime and you will miss those Joe Biden’s “bad nights” and wish you could go back and tell all these fools to fuck off.

Their strategy is not working. They admit it in their own headlines, like the WP today, revealing their despair as they state “most Americans don’t want Biden” and “polls show no evidence of this” in the same breath. Of course they don’t. The MSM wishful thinking means shit, just like George Clooney’s pathetic attempt to get his wife to forgive him means shit. We know better, motherfuckers. We ride with Joe, fuck you very much.

Have a great Thursday.

What’s next?

Bonjour, Theaders, Threadheads, and all in between. Get yourselves a strong cuppa Joe. I know I have.

It’s time for a reality check, Thriends. By the time I am through with today’s morning post I will perhaps have less followers. I am here to spread awareness with long strings and drink coffee. Not gonna run out of either anytime soon. Look for clickbait and ass kissing elsewhere.
So join me for a walk.

The current crisis in Europe, especially in France, has always reminded me of the tragedy in the missed opportunity of 1995. The year of Mathieu Kassovitz’s “La Haine”; the year I visited Paris a few times. “La Haine” can be translated into one word: Hate. Yet Kassovitz defined it in his title as “THE hate”, a very specific hate. Back then it was the year of Islamic terrorism in France, way before 9/11, with tight security everywhere and bombs going off in public places. I was there.

The ghosts of Algeria came back to haunt their colonizers. Walking around with a friend who looked Arab and being dark tanned myself I had a close call with the police. You could feel it in the air. The hate. In those days the Arab immigrants and their French born children weren’t as numerous as today. They lived in ghettos, away from the very French downtown areas and they dreamed of one day getting there. There was no sympathy for them, no matter how hard they tried to fit in.

Blowing bombs around didn’t help. They found themselves trapped in a free fall with a predictable ending, living in their decrepit high rises, illustrated by the falling guy joke in the movie that keeps telling to himself as he falls “so far so good”. It’s not how you fall, it’s how you land. As if the measure of your success is how the pool of blood looks like when you inevitably hit the ground. With enough time and the willful ignorance of those in power, the shift happened.

Today it’s the French of other descent who are telling to themselves “so far so good” as they free fall with their hubris for parachute, and the Arabs finally take to downtown Paris they were denied for so long and burn it. There is a time when hate must be addressed in a way that keeps it from spreading. If you miss that chance it will grow to a point where you can feel it in the air you breathe, everywhere. By then ignoring it is no longer possible and dealing with it much harder.

If you haven’t seen “La Haine”, please do. It’s a Time Capsule from the days the opportunity to deal with this problem rationally and prevent it from spreading was lost. It’s a masterpiece, a cautionary tale as much as a cry for help. It went unheard. And here we are.

After the people united to defeat right wing radicals in the UK and France we immediately felt hope the same can happen here. It’s possible, and truly the only way to victory.

The immediate goal of the British and French was the same as ours: to deny fascists access to power. As we recognize Project 2025 as the enemy we will band together as well to defeat their enablers and advocates, and the one person that personifies that evil. We will succeed just as the British and the French did. But we must remember this, which may be lost in the noise the MSM is making to distract us:
All we will win is time. Nothing else.

The immediate danger posed by right wing policies and plans that affect us today, even before they have absolute power, makes us resolutely deny them that power. However, if we don’t address the root causes of their present success and deal with them effectively, they will come back with a vengeance. Of course we should be happy the Neo-Nazi Le Pen was defeated. Of course we will rejoice when we defeat our very own orange turd. But we will still be living in the exact same world.

Don’t be fooled by the sweet taste of victory in battle when the war still rages on. The world that created these monsters we fight against will still exist after November. Just as it still exists in France. The most important question we need to ask ourselves right now is “Then what?”; don’t wait for after the victory to ask “Now what?”, you need to start thinking about it today.

Millions of French people took to the streets to celebrate victory over fascism, but what I saw immediately was how a few among them were riding another sort of wave. You’d expect that victory to bring out hope and genuine national pride, but watching the images on TV I saw Palestinian flags and Free Palestine banners and Paris burning in the night. The hate is jumping on the wagon as if itself was the victor.

Never mind the vast majority of voters voted against hate itself. It’s the job of these few radicals to make sure hate is alive and spreading. With all that is wrong in France today, the first declaration of these radicals was how next week France will recognize Palestine as a state. The day of glory has arrived. But did they win anything other than a free ride downtown to set it on fire? I don’t think so. I think most people who voted against Le Pen are sick of hate.

Not the hate for a specific group, the hate for the sake of hate itself. The hate that leads to nothing but chaos and division those fascists thrive on. The hate that will grow to the point where only hate will prevail. We’re also sick of it right here, in the US. Once we defeat fascism here at home I expect a few radicals to ride along and make you believe they won too. It’s our ability to finally face the monsters feeding the rise of fascism and end them that will matter.

The UK seems better positioned to do that, but the divisions in the victorious ranks exist, and the defeated are waiting. In France, although short of the victory they aspired to, fascists still got their best electoral results ever. And among us, after we beat Project 2025 at the polls, there will still be millions of people who voted for it, knowingly or not. Our world will not change after the elections, all we will win is the time we need to really change it.

Ignorance remains our worst enemy, for it breeds irrational fear of the other and eventually turns to hate. Confronted with serious problems that affect us all we tend to find immediate comfort in aesthetic solutions, designed to create the illusion the problem doesn’t exist or has been solved. No matter how you look at it, the main driver of populism is and will remain xenophobia. Fear of “the other”, where the other changes to fit the narrative.

The fearful find shelter in the strangest places, when their grievances are not addressed. Gay people flock with Islam, Jews believe Nazis will save them, the destitute look up to the billionaires as their saviors. Whatever illusion makes them feel safe. We cannot live in a world reluctant to accept reality. We must stop feeding the beasts that thrive on our fears. But to do that we have to understand reality, as ugly as it may be.

France bought a little more time to do just that. Should it fail, the beast will rise unchallenged and will eat it alive. It doesn’t matter which beast it is. Is there really a difference between being burned alive in the fire of Nazism or fundamentalist Islam? Would you feel better one way or the other? I don’t think so. They’re the same.

What comes next to the French and to us in the US is the courage to recognize the loop holes in our legitimate fight for tolerance. And close them.
The case study for all other issues we need to address is immigration. The radical right would have you believe treating immigrants worse than cattle is the way, just as the radical left wants to embrace every single immigrant as our brother and sister and in doing so actually treat them like cattle as well.

We should all agree each country has its own way to deal with immigration but the one common denominator is integration. Diversity around an existing set of core values. In Germany, because of their history, immigrants must embrace the idea of a Jewish state and accept Israel’s right to exist. In the United States the ultimate goal is democracy, so we should explicitly require any immigrant to uphold it and embrace it. Isn’t that what we are fighting for?

No one with two working brain cells thinks it’s unreasonable to deport an immigrant who stands for the death of democracy in our country. Or the violent overthrow of our government. Or the institution of their religion as the law and the only true faith. The freedom of speech we are born with as Americans comes with a set of limits we must respect or not at our own peril. Nothing stops an American citizen to publicly advocate for bombings and beheadings yet they will face consequences.

When it comes to immigrants, citizens or guests, the consequences should be more severe. How you define these parameters without fear of being perceived as just another xenophobic freak is the question. The humanity we expect to show those seeking a new life amongst us is the humanity we should expect from them. Anything else is not going to solve this problem. Showing tolerance for those who profess intolerance will be our doom.

As will our victory be short lived if we fail to see what needs to be done next. Don’t be afraid to say we should have voter identification, just make it free and standard issued to all citizens and not some cockamamie objective you need to jump over dozens of hurdles to get. Don’t be afraid to say Nazism must be illegal, just make it so in a way that doesn’t infringe your rights. Stand up for the humane treatment of immigrants, don’t just let them in aimlessly to be exploited.

And just as you recognize the danger posed by those who subscribe to Project 2025, recognize the one that fundamentalist Islam represents in our society. We must have the courage to tackle them both and stop them feeding from each other as our inaction allows them to exist. Most people are not extremist, they’re just afraid. Once you prove you can effectively help them feel safe, no matter what they fear, you stop feeding the beast. And it will die at last.

We will win, just like the French and the British, and with the time we buy ourselves with that victory we must confront the problems that perpetuate this lethal balancing act. We must address our concerns clearly and with courage and provide solutions that transcend aesthetics and trends. It’s time for a reality check. Right now. Unless you want your head cut off by a friendly face rather than one you don’t like. I don’t know about you, but that does nothing for me.

If you think all will be over the day after we beat fascism at the polls, take a good look at France tonight. We have a lot of soul searching and hard work ahead. You better prepare yourselves for it. I have confidence in our humanity and common sense. I feel we are on the right track and nothing will turn us back. I hope you do too.

Stay strong and fight.
This is our chance to set us on the right path.
Don’t waste it.
